Roughly every two decades, Midorans enter a short period of torpor. Their ferny hair wraps around them, and their fruits shrink to buds. Their plump white skin turns harder than ferrokondite, and they come to rest as statues in forests of their peers. It was this event that led a Polyhapteran that visited Midore every Sunspot Festival to develop Steadfast Shielding for personal use. The prototype protected his orb-like body as he rested; since then the technology has been adapted to benefit entire ships.
